This week's STLsoccer.net Player of the Week goes to Saint Louis Athletica's hometown hero Lori Chalupny. On Thursday from the right back position, she captained the United States Women's National team to a 1-0 win over Germany in an international friendly. The match was played in Augsburg, Bavaria, in front of a 30.000 sold out crowd. The U.S. came into the match ranked first in the world, just 35 points ahead of Germany and the win by the U.S. will keep them ranked first in the FIFA world rankings.

week 14 - 2009:
This week's STLsoccer.net Player of the Week goes out to hometown pride Lori Chalupny. This past week, Lori was officially named co-captain of the US Women's National Team by head coach Pia Sundhage. The honor for Chalupny comes on the eve of what will be her 88th cap for the USA when the team opens the Algarve Cup against Denmark. Lori has been one of the USA’s most consistent performers over the past five years, and has been hailed as one of the best left backs in the world and has shown to be one of the USA’s most talented all-around players. Also this week, Lori agreed to contract terms with Saint Louis Athletica of the new Women’s Professional Soccer league, making her the first-ever announced signing by the club. |

week 17 2009:
This week's STLsoccer.net Player of the Week goes to St.Louis Athletica team captain Lori Chalupny. This past week Lori scored 2 goals and had 1 assist in a preseason game against Notre Dame. Chalupny’s play in the first half left head coach Jorge Barcellos speechless. “I have no words good enough to describe how Chalupny performed.”

| Lori, you are a great player and role model for these kids. So sad that Athletica is done, what a shame and shock. I will be following you close with Atlantica.
