UA wins 1 to zip...... Awaits winner of IWA/FZN...... UA played solid game holding most of the play. Lindbergh had a nice player up top with size and speed that generated a few scoring chances along with another solid keeper performace.
Nice year for the Flyers!!!!!!!
I guess I saw a different game than you cause I did not see any scoring chances from Lindbergh except the first 30 seconds of the game Lindbergh had two. Every time #8 (who I guess your referring to) even got close down field was stopped by either 15 or 33. I will agree Lindbergh keeper is very good and that game could have easily been 3 or 4 to zip. She made 3 great diving saves to her weak side. The IWA game was not very pretty as Howell North was never in it from the opening kick. I did leave at half time though. Good Luck too IWA and Ursuline
We have known the LHS goalie since she was 8...she has always been a goalie a team can build on....She (NT) is a game changing goalie......Lindbergh has a quaility team...and with her in goal next year...and only getting better...watch out everyone!!! and I don't have a kid playing for LHS....but I do love watching her play!!!!

| I would agree "UMSLGA"L she is one player that makes a HUGE impact on a average or a little above average team. She keeps them in games that no other keeper that I have seen can. As far as Eureka I would have to agree they need to step up on defense/goalie if they want to compete against the top teams in the next few years. Their schedule is no where close to the privates but still give up way to many goals. Lafayette keeper is probably as close as anyone when it comes to keeper as good as Lindbergh's she too keeps Lafayette in games(I think she is the Glavin's U-16 keeper) and it was good to see TW playing a tougher schedule this year. Good Luck to all teams both in small and large schools that remain left.

NOSPIN....Still love direct play? I know you do. But if you possess the ball how can the other team score? ManU, the Champion of the Premier League had 1 shot on goal.
The Lindbergh keeper is obviously outstanding. But if you don't have such talent (and even if you do) should your team try the method used by the European Champion Barcalona? BARCA 3 Man U 1
The difference between Barcelona and Manchester United was clear to see during the Champions League final, as Lionel Messi inspired Pep Guardiola's side to a 3-1 victory.
But the collective effort of the Catalan team was crucial in constructing the win.
777 - Total number of passes that Barcelona made in the final, more than double Manchester United's 357. Barca had 69% of overall ball possession.
148 - Passes that Spanish midfielder Xavi completed during the game, a high for the Champions League this season. He misplaced only seven, giving him a completion rate of 95%.
90 - Percentage of passes completed by the Barcelona team.
60 - Passes between Xavi and Andres Iniesta, the most common pass journey on the pitch.
55 - Number of times Xavi and Iniesta passed to Messi.
16 - Times United fouled Barcelona's players. Barcelona did likewise to their opponents on only five occasions.
15 - Dribbles by Messi, of which 10 were successful. Wayne Rooney was the next most frequent dribbler with six.
12 - Shots on target by Barcelona. Messi and Iniesta had three of these each.
11.95 - According to Uefa, distance in kilometres covered by Xavi.
1 - Number of shots that Manchester United had on target.
Tommy Howe where you right all along?

Great stats that just confirm the dominance that was Barcelona.
In theory Tom Howe is correct. But goal scorers are not a dime a dozen. What to remember:
4-5 of the best positional footballers in the world play on that team.
There is only one Messi and that is why that play and style work not to mention a fantastic coach.
PS. I support Man U and was not surprised at the outcome. But the possession was about was expected 70 to 30!!
Congrats to the best team in the World!!!!

AHHH, Eur. played Lafayette twice, Lindb., Summit, Oakville, some tough games in Burlington, CJ, SJA, UA, NH, pretty tough schedule in my opinion, and their GK is the U-16 Wipke goalie, so she is pretty well used to pressure and has earned a decent pile of hardware at a young age.

Who cares if she is Wipke's goalie?(does that mean she automatically a great HS goalie?) Apparently she gave up quite a bit of goals in HS so what does that say? Your goalie is as good as your defense is. Not to bash but you can put a statue out there to be a goalie on Wipke's team cause half the time most teams only get 1 or 2 shots on goal even at the higher level(and yes I have seen them play). I will stand by my word and still say the best goalie in the 16's age group is TG goalie then probably WCA Deane's goalie who only let up 1 goal the whole Slysa league playing up 2 years and had 9 shut outs.

How do we get to Barca and comparing best club goalies?
Class 3 and 2 have at least 3 strong sides in them which should make for a fun weekend. MSHSAA does its best to the it up, but some pretty solid teams survived the gauntlet and we should see some terrific games.

back to the High School topic - I found this somewhere on the web:
The Notre Dame girls soccer team secured its fifth consecutive final four trip Saturday afternoon, winning 5-1 over the host Farmington in Class 2A quarterfinal action.
The Rebels (18-6-1) will meet Visitation Academy (19-5) in the semifinals Friday at noon at Anheuser-Busch Center in Fenton.
In last year’s state title match, Visitation defeated Notre Dame 5-3.
Notre Dame also finished second in 2008; the Rebels were third in 2007 and fourth in 2009.
Michelle Auer, the reigning Class 2 player of the year, again led the way for the Rebels on Saturday, finishing with three goals, including the game-winner, and an assist. Auer, a Southern Illinois Edwardsville recruit, is the area’s scoring leader with 49 goals and 17 assists.
Notre Dame, which led 3-1 at the half, also received goals from Sam Been and Brittany Marcus. Katie Fernandez and Liz Flowers each contributed two assists.
Taylor Scancegraw scored for Farmington (16-9) and finished the season with 41 goals and 15 assists.
St. Vincent 2, John Burroughs 0 • The visiting Indians (21-4) earned their third consecutive state trip, knocking off the Bombers in a Class 1 quarterfinal match Saturday evening.
St. Vincent won the Class 1 title in 2009 and placed third a year ago.
Burroughs finished 8-9-1.

TG green doesn't give up many shots either and Laf. GK is among the best U-16 keepers, Deane gave up a lot of goals at cup last year, we had a 15 yr old GK guest play U-17 for us twice last year in SLYSA and she had 2 shutouts, not sure how you put her above about 5 keepers I can think of even though a year makes a big difference at that position.

Who do you think is not a strong side? UA or IWA?

So WHY all the goals allowed?(and don't say the schedule cause a lot of teams played just as hard as schedule and did not give up that many goals) With this defense they should have not givin up more than 5 goals all year no matter who they played. There must have been a break down somewhere.

| FZW only allowed 15 goals all season. I think they played 26 games.
