I assume the first 4 regular season games are the US Open Cup qualifiers, Des Moines & K-C away with Colorado & Springfield at home.
Can't wait...Lions have a score to settle with K-C & Springfield from '07 cup games!

A good portion of the team is coming back. We will learn more at tryouts. Tony has been in contact with many of the guys.

I don't have a list of who is coming back at the moment but I will put one together. You can put Juice and Tommy down for certain.

The combine guys are still talking to teams and are working some thing's out. David and Martin are drawing a good bit of interest. I have not spoken to Brenton. I know they have some workouts scheduled with some teams.

Hopefully thing's work out for these guys.

Tryouts went well. Tony is reviewing all of the players and making some decisions.

I know he still has a list of additional players that could not attend the tryout due to NCAA rules.

There were several players that really stood out.

We are really in need of some younger players that could fit into the Super 20 team.

So if you know anyone that is interested please have them call Tony at 636-939-5151.

The St Louis Lions have several players that are in need of part-time jobs.

Players are available to work weekday hours and need to be available for practice in the late afternoon. Weekends they are often traveling to games in other cities.

Lions players are currently also looking for temporary (3 to 4 month) housing for a couple of players.

If you are interested in employing or housing one of the players please call 636-939-5151 for more information.

Good question and sorry for the late response. I was out of town all week.

A USL Super-20 Player is any player born on/after 1/1/88

Teams playing in the Super-20 League are required to follow strict guidelines set forth by the NCAA and USL so as not to endanger the NCAA eligibility of current or potential players.

Two more Lions headed to the pro ranks?

St Louis Lions players David Mueller and Martin Clayes are on trial this week with the Portland Timbers. Both have an additional trial later this month with the Wilmington Hammerheads.

When I hear more I will send out an update.

Good Luck guys

The St Louis had a scrimmage game this past weekend against the Springfield Demize.

The Lions lost 4-3. I did not see the first half of the game due to covering a youth game at the tournament. I was able to see the 2nd half and the Lion's dominated the flow of the game and the overall play. Jon Fridal scored two goals and I can not remember who scored the other.

The scrimmage gave Tony a chance to see a lot of new players. This was the first scrimmage for the guys.

I will update you as to the next scrimmage.

AESA,

You will need to get in touch with Tony. We were cutting yesterday and it is really really soft. Tony is trying to find an alternative site for teh games this weekend.

A couple of notes about upcoming games.

The scrimmage this weekend will probably be moved. Possible location is St Dominic High School. 5:30 pm game time vs UMKC. The ground at the Glavin Complex is really soft and needs a little bit more time to dry out. With the threat of rain again it is better that we move the game so that we can atleast get it played.

We will move the meet the Lions event to the Glavin Tournament weekend and will arrange for fans to meet that players. Weekend of May 5th
On that weekend we will have a game that Saturday the FINAL preseason game May 5th vs Nashville Metro's. 5:30 kick off

Home Opener is Mother's Day weekend May 11th. All Mom's get an opportunity to win a diamond at the Diamond Dig (Compliments of our friends at Harris Jewelry), with Limo ride for you and your family to dinner. Still working on the restaurant.

Is UMKC playing Glavin on Saturday? I had heard that SLU was playing UMKC this weekend.

UMKC is playing 2 games this weekend.

Sat morning they are playing SLU at SLU and then Sat evening against the Lions.

My understanding is that a college can only schedule x amount of scrimmages in x amount of days and the UMKC coach was trying to maximize his scrimmage schedule while in the St Louis area.

UMKC is bringing enough guys to play two games.
