| CCP has been playing not up to their standards. This is a huge blow that, IMO, is going to cost them their year.

I agree, losing Robson is huge. How did it happen though? Was it in a game?

| He broke his leg on Saturday during a game versus Peoria-Notre Dame. I wasn't there but was told it was on a somewhat dubious 50/50 tackle. Regardless, let's hope for a speedy and complete recovery for the young man.

Chelseafan, thanks. My thoughts and prayers too for Michael. He's a terrific young man and has contributed a lot both in club and HS to St. Louis soccer. Sad reminder that soccer can be a very rough and physical sport sans pads of other contact sports.

A rough start became even rougher for the Chaminade soccer team last Saturday at CBC.
Coming off season-opening losses to Fort Zumwalt West and Cedarburg, Wis., the Red Devils were about 20 minutes into a match with Peoria Notre Dame when third-year starter Michael Robson went down with a broken leg after a hard tackle.
"He fractured both bones — so much for shin guards — and had surgery on Monday," Chaminade coach Mike Gauvain said. "I really feel for Michael. He missed the last month of the season last year with a back injury and was really looking good. If he's not the best player in the area, he's certainly one of the top two or three."
A defender-midfielder, Robson gave an oral commitment to attend St. Louis University and is expected to make a full recovery. But what about this season?
"We've heard six to eight weeks, which means he might be back for the playoffs, but we've also been told that it might be more like 12 to 14 weeks," Gauvain said. "All we can do is move forward, hoping that Michael's misfortune becomes an opportunity for some of our other guys."
The Red Devils travel to Indianapolis this weekend for the Great Midwest Classic. Chaminade will face Barrington tonight and host North Central and Downers Grove South in Saturday matches.
"We're facing the three best teams and wouldn't want it any other way," said Gauvain, whose club won GMC titles in 2002 and 2005 and shared last year's crown with Barrington. "It's a great trip for us. And with 15 or 16 guys doing it for the first time, there's a little added excitement."
CHICAGO BOUND
Gibault and O'Fallon will compete this weekend in the Pepsi Showdown in Chicago. Gibault plays Homewood-Flossmoor, while O'Fallon faces Marian Catholic tonight; opponents for Saturday have yet to be determined.
The two-week event features a 32-team single-elimination bracket. Seven other teams, including Gibault, O'Fallon and DeSmet, will take part in games played outside the bracket.
"I'm going home," kidded De-Smet coach and Chicago native Greg Vitello, whose team will face New Trier, Loyola Academy and another team the weekend of Sept. 19-20. "It's a great event, and I think our guys will enjoy the competition and the atmosphere."
O'Fallon will honor longtime coach Art Voellinger on Thursday when it hosts Alton Marquette. Voellinger, who also coached baseball, wrestling, and tennis, started the Panther soccer program in 1977 and finished with a career mark of 313-84-43.

On Friday, Sept. 12, Chaminade 4 Barrington (IL) 2
Sept. 13, Chaminade 0 North Central (IN) 3
Sept. 13, Chaminade 0 Downer's Grove 1 (PK in Regulation)
I was not able to be in Indy, but my Grandson gave me a brief report.
We defeated a good Barrington team (Barrington lost to North Central 0-1 on Saturday afternoon). Downer's Grove tied North Central, 1-1 Friday night. North Central dominated us in every facet of the game. Downer's Grove game was winnable but we didn't win.
I am also including some comments from my post on another message board topic:
“Aargh!!! Yes, we are now 4 and 6 after losing to CBC in penalty kicks. We have had a lot tougher start than I would have thought. Michael Robson's broken leg is huge, for him personally and for the team. Our prayers are with him.
3 of the 6 losses were Penalty Kick defeats,: Cedarburg, WI after Cedarburg tied the game with a penalty kick; Kickapoo and CBC against whom we had pretty decent games, although CBC dominated the play in that game (I still think we gave them a scare); the 0-1 defeat to Downer’s Grove in Indianapolis was the result of a penalty kick in regulation.
Last year, we gave up a total of 10 goals in 28 games. Contrast that to this year when we have yielded 13 goals already in only 10 games. Even counting the 3 PK losses as only 3 official goals; 6 of the 13 goals have been penalty kicks. The only team to really knock the boys around was the North Central Team from Indianapolis. I still think we will improve as the season progresses, in spite of missing Michael whom I was delighted to see encouraging his teammates from the bench.
Keep on working, Chaminade. Despite the wrenching defeats, you are only a handful of plays from being 8 and 2 instead of the tough reality of 4 and 6. God bless each one of you and the coaching staff from head to foot!”

| Brad Davis is one of 4 Dynamo players trying out for MNT, (Ching, Clark and Holden). Ricardo Clark got a red card against Italy in the 2009 Confederations Cup so maybe Bradley will lean toward a cooler-headed player.IMO

I'm pulling for Brad, but....
IMO, he has NO chance to elevate the AVERAGE performance of US Nats.
Sure, he can provide left MF cover and provide excellent crosses, when he's within 30 yards of the goal, but:
the Int game is one of possession and winning 50/50's and regaining possession...over and over.... can Brad do that? Maybe....maybe not....
Hey, I'm pulling for him...it's his LAST chance to participate in a World Cup!
