Club Soccer Tryout & "Kickaround" Info

Looking to Tryout for a Club Soccer Team?  The Missouri Youth Soccer Association has set the official Tryout date for the St. Louis Area (Eastern District) to be June 16th.  Many of the local clubs will host unoficial tryouts which are known ask "Kickarounds" starting in early May. 

For the past 9 years, STLsoccer.net has hosted a Tryout / Kickaround Message Board Forum so local clubs can communicate the latest information about their Tryouts and Kickarounds.

CBC High School Soccer Coach Terry Michler offers two Coaching Education courses and both are NO charge! 

"Introduction to Dutch Coaching and Training Methods" will touch on key elements that are characteristic to the Dutch approach to soccer. For more on this course - click here.

"Youth Soccer Coaching Education Program" is an opportunity for Youth Coaches to learn more about the coaching process. For more in this course - click here.

Also please check out the CBC- Dutch Touch International Camp which will be lead by world-class instructor Jan Pruijn. Jan will be joined by fellow Dutch F.A. coaches to create an atmosphere focused on a professional training program of advanced skills and competition. For more on this camp - click here.

Lastly, CBC Coach Terry Michler will conduct the Street Soccer Camp this summer CBC High School. With input from Jan Pruijn, one of Holland's top youth trainers and currently Technical Director of Ajax Cape Town, the Street Soccer Camp will allow the players to play informal games where the learning will occur as they play.  For more on this - click here.

"The Soccer Park" (formally known as the Anheuser-Busch Conference Center or AB Soccer Park) is currently getting a major facelift!  Overhaul might be a better description of the project which consists of Main Field Turf, Bermuda on two of it's three grass fields (field 4 and 6).   Construction is already a week complete and is estimated to be a 10 week project.   SLSG President Jim Kavanaugh also announced at the ground breaking ceremony potential plans for turf on field five.   To read all about  - click here.

Avalon FC and Bino's have agreed to combine local resources under the Missouri Rush Soccer Club banner starting with the fall 2012 season.

The Rush is currently sponsored nationally by Nike and All State Insurance with 25 individual chapters in 24 states.  They also have 18 International Clubs in Africa, Asia, and South America creating a network of approximately 40,000 players. 

Also this week, Avalon FC announced its affiliation with the West Ham United International Academy as a Partner Club. This offers players and coaches the opportunity to become part of an exceptional program and be exposed to soccer at the highest levels. West Ham United & Tony Carr’s system is renowned for their youth academy and the players they have developed.

United States Soccer announced that the U.S. Soccer Development Academy is adopting a 10-month schedule that will start in September of 2012 and finish up with playoffs in July.

The announcement means that many of the area's premier players will have to decide between playing for the Academy or for their high schools next fall. Read what they are saying about this - click here

Congratulations to locals AJ Cochran (SLSG / CBC) from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and Tomas Gomez from Georgetown University (SLSG / Webster Groves HS) for getting invited to the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team.  Tab Ramos has named the boys to his 26-player roster for a domestic training camp from Feb. 20-March 1 in Clermont, Fla. 

As part of the camp, the U.S. U-20 MNT will face the reserve teams from FC Dallas and Montreal Impact. Read more click here

Illinois Piasa of the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL-Pro) has announced a coaching change for this upcoming season. This year’s team will be coached by both Joe Reiniger and Justin McMillian. In addition to having both talented coaches to lead the team, the Piasa have also added Elvir Kafedzic as the team’s Assistant Coach and as a roster player.  Read more - click here

The St. Louis Scott Gallagher-Metro U14 Boys’ Pre-Academy team are National Champions. The boys secured the US Club National Championship in Boise, Idaho by defeating Olimpica FC United out of Los Angeles, CA.  Read more - click here

St. Louis, June 24, 2011 – The Tony Glavin Soccer Club and the St. Louis Lions Elite Youth Academy partnership and affiliation with Celtic Football Club will enhance the player development process and completes the path to Premiership.

This unique international relationship between the Tony Glavin Soccer Club, the St. Louis Lions Elite Academy and the Celtic FC extends beyond an identification program and will enhance player development opportunities available in the central region of the United States. Arsenal Program a Resounding Success with St. Louis Scott Gallagher

Arsenal FC announce a new initiative with Nike and St. Louis Scott Gallagher. The initiative, which is being offered to a select group of young players in the St. Louis area, incorporates a specially designed Arsenal technical program created with input for former Arsenal player and current Arsenal International Partnerships Performance Supervisor, Steve Morrow.

St. Louis Scott Gallagher recently traveled to Richmond Virginia to train with players from Arsenal’s East Coast partnership, Richmond Strikers, under the guidance of former Gunner and current North American scout Danny Karbassiyoon.

Tim Ream (St. Dominics / SLU / SLSG) becomes the first St. Louisan to play in the English Premier League (EPL).

Contacted by EPL club Bolton the day after his wedding, the 24-year-old St. Louis Native defender canceled his honeymoon on the Pacific island and headed east instead.

Ream convinced Bolton manager Owen Coyle of his worth while training in December with Bolton's squad and completed a transfer from MLS's New York Red Bulls.

Congratulations to St. Louisans Tommy Meyer (SLUH / IU) and Michael Roach (CCP / SLU) for their recent success in the MLS Draft.   Meyer went to the LA Galaxy in the first round of the 2012 Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

Roach was drafted by the New England Revolution in Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft. Roach was the No. 3 pick in the fourth round.  For more on these two stories click here
